ABOUT US

Elizabeth Lutheran Church is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).  The congregation was founded in 1886 and first located in the town of Caldwell.  Our current facility was built in 1986.

For over a century Elizabeth Lutheran Church has been a beacon of hope for the Caldwell Community.  We invite you to be a part of our Church Family as we strive to make Christ known!

Lutherans hold to three basic principles of theology:

  • We are saved by the grace of God alone - not by anything we do.
  • Our salvation is through faith alone - we need only to believe that our sins are forgiven for Christ's sake, who died to redeem us.
  • The Bible is the only norm of doctrine and life - the only true standard by which teachings and doctrines are to be judged.

Lutherans hold to basic teachings of the Church: the Ten Commandments, The Apostles' Creed, the Lord's Prayer, Holy Baptism, Confession and Absolution, Holy Communion and Corporate Worship.

We are members of the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
